An Ode to the Ed
17 Answers
What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in ChatterBank, of glory in the threads just sank;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be;
In the uncivil thoughts that spring
Out of human suffering;
In the faith that looks through death,
In years that bring the AB skeptic mind.

Ha! whare ye gaun, ye crowlin ferlie!
Your impudence protects you sairly:
I canna say but ye strunt rarely
Owre gauze and lace;
Tho' faith, I fear ye dine but sparely
On sic a place.
Ye pretty, creepin, blastit wonner,
luvved and shunned by saunt an' sinner,
How daur ye set your fit upon an ABer,
Sae fine a person!
Gae somewhere else and seek your dinner,
On some other wee grinner.
