Are people getting tired of the lottery?

Last night's jackpot was only 1.5 million. It was split 3 ways. While half a million isn't to be sniffed at, it's hardly the stuff of dreams. Have people come to see that for most the lottery is just a dream and they're better keeping their money?

Most people I know do the Lottery on Saturday or The Euromillions on Friday...
You can tell by the prize funds its nowhere near as popular as it was....a lot of my friends now only buy tickets for double or greater rollovers. part of the problem is all the other games and ways of playing ...as I doubt it brought extra players to the process just spread out the existing ones
I think Rowan is right. There are now so many different games that it has spread the money out, not made more money. I've only ever done the bog standard lottery on a Saturday and the FH has done the odd Euromillions.
I do the lottery on Wed & Sat and Euromillions on Fri. I have never considered any of the add-ons they brought in.
Yes I expected to have won a few million by now ?
I have done it twice a week since kick off ...
Thus it must be a fix
Chap I work with wife works in the lottery industry.
They have been busy over last few years selling lotto systems to other country.
It is a fact that people tend to play lotto more in a recession ....weird
I don't understand why some people only buy tickets for rollover draws. Winning just a normal draw is not to be sniffed at. I like the new +5 draws, because for just £1 a week you get entered into five draws. Since the +5 started I've spent £15 altogether and won a total of £57.50
Whoo spooky ......
Just checked my hotmail inbox and email from lotto saying winnings will be paid into my bank account ...logged Into my lotto account and checked alerts and won £10 last night ...
My OH does it Wed, Fri and Sat....his Mum even phones him to make sure he's put it on.
Lol, you'll have to call it a fix more often, SIRRand.
Yes I honestly think that "Camelot" are a victim of their own success, they keep on introducing new games such as lotto plus five and now the new Tuesday Euro-millions
hoping that people will part with even more of their hard earned cash but in reality
most people have only a limited amount of money to spend every week.
I think people just can't afford to buy Wednesday tickets + Saturday tickets + Friday Euromillions + Thunderball + Daily Play + Scratchcards + Dream number + Hotpicks, and so on and so forth. There are too many lottery games on the go and I think they'd be far better off just having a Saturday draw and the Friday Euromillions.
The irony is, that to be able to participate in everything Camelot does, you would have to be rich.
The last time I payed for the lottery it cost me £40.

I decided to try out the new daily play and I didn't win a bean.

Normally I only do a couple of lines of Thunderball on Saturday.
In fact I cannot remember the last time I won anything.
Well said No Mercy, I understand that Camelot are a business but they have just got too greedy.
Yes they have, SM. If you've got £10 to spend on gambling and ten games, you'll more than likely spread that money out - thus the jackpots are getting smaller as the number of different games increases.
I stopped doing the lottery some years ago, by not doing my usual 5/10 pound a week it from then to now I have saved around 8000 pound, now thats not to be sniffed at :)
the problem is, some people use the same numbers on a saturday and a wednesday, and are fearful of stopping just in case ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i won last night !
If I had saved all the money I have spent on the lottery I would be well rich now. I have been doing it since it first started and only won very small amounts, the most being £21. I still go on doing it as I think I inherited a gambling gene from my father.
