burst water pipes

if the water pipes in someone's flat bursts, how long would it take to repair them?  who'd do it?  what would they do?

1) Not very long I shouldn't think although it would depend on where the burst was

2) a plumber

3) replace the burst pipe.

 I  had burst pipes years ago in a house and plumbers repair pipes but had to move out as electrics had to dry out and be repaired
