On my drive to work, I pass a gorgeous looking house but it's been boarded up for ages. Is there any way to find out who owns it, why it's boarded up and then potentially what is going to happen to it, i.e, if it's going to auction?

It'll be boarded up to prevent squatters....
Often awaiting development. Our pubs have been boarded for years & now there stands a pile of crumbled brick.

Quite a few local councils now have an 'empty property' section, they may be able to help especially if you hint you would like to purchase it.
