i have a 15 year old spaniel, he has stopped barking for the last 6 months, he is reasonably healthy for his age, is there anything to worry about because he doesnt bark any more?
A couple of silly answers when you were just trying to get some help. I don't know the answer myself but maybe because of his age he just can't be bothered to bark or he might have something wrong with his throat and it hurts him to bark. Best get him to the vet just to be on the safe side. ( To the previous 2 that answered this question, yes I have a sense of humour but this person was worried about their dog ! ) Gelda
Has he lost his hearing? Might seem a bit strange but when my dog went deaf she stopped barking, I presume it was because she never heard anything to bark at, IE doorbell.
Why do some people provide smart a**e answers when people come to this site looking for help or advice?
Has your dog had any cleaning/dental treatment recently which may have involved putting a tube down his throat?
My elderly cat underwent a tooth cleaning exercise under anaesthetic some years ago, and completely lost his "miaow" afterwards as a result of his vocal chords being damaged. It's just a thought. He may also be developing some kind of throat cyst which is causing a problem. Best to get him checked out by the vet.
