Must be knighted or knightly but I cannot see why!

Knightly - K for king and nightly for regularly. Knight - chess piece

TILTYARD

'tip cart up' is the subsidiary indication.
'tip' becomes 'tilt'
'cart' becomes 'dray'
'up' shows that the letters should be reversed in order.
'dray' reversed gives 'yard'
'tilt'+'yard'='tiltyard'
