You could boil/simmer it in cider first. Then-drain-season,spread with honey,and cover with overlapping,thinly sliced apples. Drizzle with a bit of melted butter,and bake in the oven.
I saw a good one on TV at Xmas. Richard Corrigan steamed his, over a large saucepan of white wine, with a few herbs & peppercorns in the wine. I tried it and it was very tasty! Hope this helps.
