Analogue Capture.

Hi All, I have put an analogue capture card in my pc(Pinnacle Studio 8), I am using a s-video av lead (4pin mini din with red+white plugs to 4 pin mini din with audio pin) to capture from my sony Hi8 CCD-TRV67E pal camcorder. It transfers the video content without problem,but i cannot recive the audio. I thought i may not have input the card correctly ,but i must have, as i would not get the video content either.

Any ideas.

Where are you plugging the audio leads into? They normally go into your sound card not the capture card. If they are supposed to go into the capture card, the capture card may need an internal connection to your sound card (does the manual tell you the audio connections?).

the av lead i am using has an s-video din and red+white plugs that i am putting in the cam,and a s-video din/black audio plug that go into the din/audio socket on the capture card at the back of the pc.when you say that i may need an internal connection, do you mean an actual physical connection between both capture and sound card or via my pc (if that makes sense) ?

What is the make/model of your capture card? Is there a 'wiring' diagram in the manual (may be on a CD)?

You may also have to go into Window's Audio Properties and choose Advanced then Options then Properties and check which input is used for recording audio (I use Line-In). Similarly in your capture software, check the audio input - you may be able to pick the capture card by name.

I have now sorted this problem,it was the type of cable i was using. i purchased a composite cable and in conjunction with the s-video cable i had connected, got the missing audio.
