Butterfly wing jewellery
18 Answers
I have a friend with a birthday coming up and she loves butterflies. Another friend told me there's a shop in or around Edinburgh, where the owner keeps butterflies and when a butterfly has passed on, they use the wings in jewellery.
I can't find a website for this shop, I've no idea what it's called or anything, just that it's Edinburgh based? I've found an American based site that does the same thing, but the lead time is too long.
Have any of you heard of this place? Somewhere else that does the same thing?
Thanks

I say again that butterflies who die of old age tend to have tatty faded wings, whoever donates them that is not to say that have had a long (well long for a butterfly) life and a natural death. Butterfly houses are businesses who need to have constnt new hatxhings to show off...do the math yourself.....
It seems to me you're accusing Edinburgh butterly farm of something without anything to back yourself up.
I'm not disagreeing that it would be awful if they were killed for the sake of jewellery like the elephants are for their tusks, but I'm not going to "do the math" based on that. EBW are all for conservation and lobby quite hard for it.
It's by the by, I'm not buying the jewellery.

Oh laki, what have you started? :p.
There are a few places doing costume jewellery with butterflies at the moment (next, miss selfridge etc ) maybe a butterfly charm/ pendant if you're looking for something a bit more expensive.
Or, you could go the fun way and buy a butterfly farm, we use them in school ( she can source her own wings, then ;) ) x
