One of my double glazed windows (an opening one) has jammed somewhere in the catch/handle area and I can't open/close the window. I have a 10 guarantee, I googled the company who guarantees, since the number I have for them no longer exists (they were installed 7 years ago), but nothing comes up. I paid my money for the windows to B&Q but they say my contract is with the company who installed them and will not help. Do I have any come back rights with B&Q? Please help, thank you.
Thanks Albags, I noticed an error in my post, I have a 10 "year" guarantee. I don't know what my legal rights are, but I'm not feeling optimistic, since B&Q's attitude is that they don't care, and I'm now stuck with a duff window which is at least a security problem because I can neither open or close it properly.
Hi, if you paid B&Q for the windows and for them to install them then they are responsible as your contract is with them and not the company that fitted them. It doesn't matter who they got to fit them as AlBags says. I would speak to the manager of the store where you purchased them from first and if you don't get any joy from them ask for them to put you through to someone even higher in the company to them. Don't leave it and if they are still not willing to help then tell them you are going to trading standards.
