If someone advertises their business and claims they are a member of a relevant trade association, but they aren't listed on the trade association's website as a member, what can be done and what would be the possible consequences for the business? Thanks

False advertising, contact trading standards.
I believe it's fraud, misrepresentation of the truth. The person should know the trade association logo on their publicity and letterhead if they are a bona fide member.
Maximum penalty in a Magistrates Court = £5000 fine.

Maximum penalty in a Crown Court = 2 years imprisonment (plus a fine)
