Clothes drying

I don't know if this question seems strange, but here goes! I recently moved into a very small one bedroom cottage/terrace, and the only place I can put my clothes horse/airer is in the bathroom, which is relatively big for size of place. I think it may have been a second bedroom at some time, but it seems to be taking an age, i.e. 2 full days to dry washing. I have always dried my washing this way and it usually takes 1 full day, so I was wondering why this might be? Could it be that the bathroom is at the back and the shared back yards/gardens back on to a river? It does seem to get colder in there, plus the obvious steam from the shower etc.

The stairs are also strange and no possibility of hanging anything over them. The heating is storage heaters, so no hanging on them either! I am having the bathroom small heater fixed tomorrow, so that may help and maybe I will have to look into getting a small tumble dryer and find room in the bedroom!!
I had the same sort of problem but solved it by buying a dehumidifier. It's considerably cheaper to run than a tumble dryer, doesn't even have to be in the same room as the damp washing (so long as doors are left ajar) and reduces dampness/humidity throughout the property.
Even my jeans are dry in less then 8 hrs!

Hi, the way you have described your house is very similar to mine. Mine's also very tiny with no room for anything other than essentials, also no out side gardens for drying washing. I use a clothes horse in my bedroom or downstairs and also have a combined/washer dryer (no room for a seperate washer and dryer!) A laundarette is always another option, thats if you can get to one/one is close by. It can be a pain sometims so I know how you feel - good luck!
