had my preassessment yesterday and all was fine so will have my operation a week on Monday. Realy nervous now ! how long do you reckon i will be off work ? thanks Jasmin

jasmin...if all goes well and there are no complications which are unusual (the complications) with this type of operation, then you should be back to work within 10days.
The problem is of course weight bearing on the foot..............perhaps with a bit of luck......maybe 7 days.

Hi Jasmin, as you know I too am waiting for operation for Morton's neuroma which will be performed from the top of the foot down; I was given a sheet of information when I saw the surgeon, on it it says -
first 3 days after surgery, stand and take weight carefully, but rest with feet up as much as possible. Only walking to go to bathroom.
After 7 days, attend hospital for examination and re-dressing, and then advice will be given on gently increasing activity.
After 14 days stitches are removed, gradually start to return to normal footwear.
After 8 weeks, the foot returns more to normal, and normal footwear. YOU MAY RETURN TO WORK AROUND THIS TIME depending on your job and type of footwear worn. Heavy work would mean that 8 weeks is an unrealistic expectation.
Although the foot should now be comfortable and returning to normal, there will still be noticeable swelling, particularly towards the end of the day.
After 12 weeks return to hospital for outpatient review.
After 6 months, the residual swelling should now be slight if not completely resolved.
After 12 months, the foot has by this stage stopped improving and all healing is complete.
NB if the operation ivolves an incisision in the sole of the foot, you should not bear weight on that foot for 3 weeks after surgery.

Crumbs, some difference between 10 days and 8 weeks - I guess you can't drive for a while then. Surprised your GP didn't advise, you will need a sicknote from the surgery after 7 days.
