Trying to with draw charges

I am my husband had a heated argument about a month ago where we both attacked each other we have both pressed charges of asult against each other but I want to with draw mine. But cannot get hold of the officer in charge and I do not want him to loose his job or go to jail.What can I do. He needs to go to bail court on the 17th and that is all i know no one is saying anything to me. Can u please advice me??

try and remember the time and date you and your husband fought, go down the cop shop and ask them who attended your address on that evening.

you cannot withdraw charges as it's the cps who is making them

u need to write a withdrawal complaint to the DC who was in charge of your case who will then pass it on to CPS but it all depend on CPS's decision

I would imagine that if you inform the CPS that you won't give evidence they may well drop the case as they need to be reasonably certain of a conviction to proceed. However I am no expert

Speak to the police at your local station. Tell them you wish to withdraw your statement. They will ask you why. Your reason doesn't have to be convoluted; that you don't support any pursuit of a conviction against your husband and you don't want to jeopardise your marriage should suffice, et cetera.

The CPS can choose to pursue the case without your support, but in lieu of any other witnesses or evidence, and given it may only be a minor charge (common assault et cetera) they will most likely choose not to pursue it any further.

If they don't drop it by the time he goes to court, tell him to plead 'not guilty'. If it's still not dropped by the trial, make sure you don't attend to give evidence. If they issue a witness warrant, well, then, no one can tell you how to behave on the stand.
