i know what i like to eat...i can read a menu - and i can navigate the oh so complicated procedure of telling the waiter what i want...
i dont want a man to stand for me...i am an equal and dont need pointless gestures designed to imply women are somehow special and to be treated differently...
i was told off by my dad and uncle regularly when i was a kid for whistling...because its not 'ladylike'...!? ridiculous notion!
me an my sister were not given a middle name because thats not 'lady like' either apparently...!? again ridiculous.
he was utterly astonished when i changed plugs, gobsmacked if i wallpapered, amazed i could drive a van without needing 'guiding' out the road...imagine his face when i became a set builder!
a few of the simpler so-called gentlemanly things may 'seem' nice but they are not really, they are indicative of the way some in society view women...some manifest as very negative things - men only clubs, men 'taking brandy in the drawing room' while the women clean up...the list is endless...its taken years to get this far so the last thing we need is a backward step...

Absolutely Joko and Answerprancer. Times have changed. I am an independent woman, but still ladylik (usually). I can manage without a man in my like. Fortuntately though, I do have a lovely man in my life and have done for 40 years. As I said before men and women are different, but equal. My thoughts do not indicate that I am not a feminine lady. I am.
