My AVG free antivirus is due to expire in a few days, please can anybody recommend another free and, reliable, one to replace it?

Hi, I had a lot of closing down problems and the odd blue screen with AVG.
The moment I uninstalled it so away went all the problems. I have run Avast now for a year and it works like a dream
