pease pudding recipe

can anybody please tell me how to make pease pudding without lots of messing about? I had a recipe that used just yellow split peas, carrots and onion chucked in a pan and cooked but I've lost the recipe and don't know what quantities to use. I've looked online but all the recipes involve either soaking overnight or unnecessary ingredients.
