i really need a breast reduction, i've been going to the doctors for years trying to get one as my boobs are just killing my back. Is there any other way to get one for free or about £1000 with out going though the NHS?

If your breasts really are giving you a back problem and the GP wont help, you could try going straight to the PCT via their PALS service...you would need an opinion from someone like a physio if the doc won't play ball, a private physio appointment would cost around 60 quid...I wouldn't let a cut price butcher anywhere near my girls!!
ooh-la-la - you could try and apply to go on 'Embarrassing Illnesses' on Channel 4 - if they accept you, thats one way of getting it done for free. Though you may have to show your thrupenny bits on the telly.

I know a couple of people who tried to get on there for a nose job, but unfortunately they were turned down.

Its worth a try. good luck x
I'm aware there are site where lasses ask for donation for have enlargements, but I'm unsure if you started one for a reduction, how many charitable donations you would attract.

Maybe you just need to save up for longer.

Just a thought, would a change of GP help any ?
What about psychological reasons? If you are becoming severely depressed then surely that's a good enough reason for an NHS referral.

if you *need* it, let the NHS do it.

I know something of what you're going through oo-la-la. The current Mrs 9401 has been trying for years to get this procedure done. All hoops have been jumped through, both physical and mental but to no avail.
Apart from the mundane stuff like getting clothes, especially bras, to fit properly the physical strain does take it's toll.
There seems to be a great reluctance for surgeons to get involved even when colleagues suggest that surgery would be of great benefit to the sufferer.
As pinkilady has already said this is a huge operation otherwise I suppose they'd be in there with the scalpel and an ice-cream scoop.
I only post this to let you now that there are others who share your problem and while it may be little comfort, at least you know you're not alone.
You need to prove you are suffering either physically....properly diagnosed back problem that can only be due to your boobs or extreme mental distress.. it is a really big op and the results are not always cosmetically that good so you have to be prepared for the risk of them ending up lopsided or lumpy...I know two people who had it done both on NHS both had breasts that were hugely disproportionate to thier height/frame one 5ft tall 34HH the other 5'7 38J the 5'7 friend had to keep going back for nearly five years before the GP accepted she was suffering....
I've been advised my 42F 's are causing my posture problems and affecting my back but I have just been told to continue losing weight. Try a new GP ideally a female one they might be more sympathetic ...How big are they by the way?and how tall are you
This is one of the few "cosmetic" operations which the NHS will do because of the health implications, especially the damage which can be suffered by back and shoulders.
You are entitled to a second opinion. Try to get the second opinion from a woman doctor
Almost without exception, women who have had this operation are delighted with the results - another reason for the NHS to agree to pay.
Far too often, people who have cosmetic operations end up dissatisfied, and never cease trying for more and more operations, but this op is an exception

thankyou so much for all your answers. I'll try to answer all your questions.
i did get signed off work for two weeks because i literally couldn't walk because of it, at this time i was told that i needed to see a chiropractor for him to confirm it is my boobs that's causing the problem, which i did do and he did say it's more than likely that's why, but it could also be because i do quite manual work. So i was told no. I then moved house and surgery got a less physical job and the pain has just been getting worse ever since. i've been trying to get a reduction with them for over a year and they are just making it the longest process ever. I am suffering emotionally too, which i've told them about. i've lost count of the times i've cried in shop dressing rooms and i'm feed up with people making stupid judgments about me just because i have them. I agree with you woofgang, i wouldn't let a non properly trained person do it, i just wondered if there's any organisations out there to help with this that i didn't know about. I have lost a wight too, and i think this is what's making it even worse as my boobs just haven't changed size. I'm 5"6, 34 GG and a bit smaller than a size 12 but not quite a 10. I think your answer is the best den, i'll go and have a look on there're web site. I don't really care if the whole world see's them i just hate living like this.
In the mean time if you haven't already look at getting a wide strap granny type bra,, ugly as sin but they spread the weight better and reduce a lot of the strain... just keep it for when you can be covered up...
