Dishwasher not cleaning properly

We have just bought a 2nd -hand Indesit dishwasher but are concerned that when we wash things, the glasses all come out 'cloudy' and the cutlery has 'rust' marks.

Have checked the salt levels as this seems to be a common cause but this does not appear to have resolved the problem.

We had another Indesit dishwasher before this one that lasted us 20 years but we never had these problems.
Any ideas please?

Do you use a rinse aid? Maybe you could try a hot cycle with a dishwasher cleaner.
Was your other one second hand too?
I find that glasses come out 'cloudy' after the same glasses have been in the dishwasher several times, i think it is just a drawback with dishwashing, godd excuse to get new glasses.
If the washer sat for a while it may have deposits. You can run it with vinegar to help clean it out. There may be gunk underneath the grates in the bottom. The rinse agent may not be releasing properly so try an external type.
i would put it through the hottest cycle with a good cleaner, check salt, filters, use good dishwater tablets,i dont like the cheapies i feel as if they dont wash properly.good luck
Maybe thats why they sold it?
Our dishwasher (Bosch) has a setting you have to set depending upon the water hardness. Which I got from our water suppliers website. This helped us with our cloudy glasses issue.
cloudy glasses is normally caused by amount salt added - all other things being equal.Have you adjusted the machine to the water hardness in your area.
Rust marks I have no idea unless it's connected to some steel pipework
