phone automaictally connecting to the net... how can i stop it?
4 Answers
im on virgin and have a BB curve 8900... and i am getting charged 30p a day for the net when i am not using it!
sometimes its connecting abotu 15-20 times a night, overnight, while i am asleep!
virgin say its nothign to do with them but it also happened with my last phone which was totally different one with diffrent apps ...
i only go online on it about 5 times a month as i have laptop but its doing ti evry day - i am careful to make sure i log off again so dont know how its happening
all virgin can do is cut the service off completely which i dont want
the apps i have - which i i have checked and i think are set to manual update etc are BB app world, a flashlight, mobi pocket reader, smartgurd security, multialarms, various messnegers - (but i NVER use them) and wise pilot and drivesafely - whcich i have also never used...
i only download apps through the computer not on the phone.
what could be happening? is this a fault with virgin? as its happened on another phone?
when i connect the phone to my laptop is this connecting to the net too?
any one else had problems? I am going to have to change providers if i cant solve it
thansk

In the days of dial-up one had to beware of PCs dialling out unexpectedly. A virus could be trying to call a premium number. I guess it is less likely on broadband, but I think I'd be trying a number of virus checkers and spyware/malware scans as well, just to be no the safe side, in your shoes. Unexpected connection = suspicious behaviour to be checked.
