Hubby won't tell me where we are going, he said it's a mystery trip! Picnic hamper's all ready as is the cold box, major's getting all seatbelted in and we are off to pick up Leah from the home. Doggies are in too - time for me to go later XX

We went to Ludlow! We had such a lovely day - a bit overcast to start, but when we had our picnic in the afternoon it was lovely. Hubby bought books, and I bought books, cooks paraphinalia, - a new zester, paring knife, garlic crusher/cherrystoner and a ridged cast iron frying pan.The major, looking very distinguished in his navy blue blazer, grey slacks and brand new Panama hat pushed me around in the wheelchair to start, but then later Leah took his arm as she's going blind (she has tunnel vision and cataracts at the moment) they looked so sweet together! ;-)
The doggies were very well behaved! A day difinitely to be repeated - another venue perhaps, but the same company for sure. Thanks for all the suggestions as to where to go - will try that place sophie_1003 suggested - Coombe Abbey next time I think!

yes, i too recommend coombe abbey mercia, its so lovely there, the grounds are really beautiful.
i went there a little while back for 'afternoon tea' with friends, it was smashing.
your description of 'hampers packed, cool boxes filled and the major being strapped in', reminded me so much of 'mrs bucket' going off for one of her picnic soiree's ... lol
i expected you to say youd also got the garden table and chairs and canopy tied to the car roof too!
