18a Yes Sleigh (In the US this Ice can mean Slay)
18ac 'ice' is us slang for kill (slay)
18d straw - little value - trifle and berry sound like bury (out of sight)
39a RECURRENT [=periodic]

upset for queen elizabeth = ER backwards = RE
i = CURRENT [symbol for electrical current]

Thanks all - Sorry I didn't get back to you naartje I had to go out!! Once you gave me "metric" I thought "recurrent" but still coudn't get the wordplay beyon RE. I will have to gen up on my US slang and electricity symbols. Thanks once again.
