you demonstrate your ignorance of foreign affairs rov. Anything less than the head of state would have been seen as an insult. Just accept that your Noo Labour buddies are out on their ear, no need to so desperately seek ways to have a go at the tories.
//....... The Queen has seen more presidents and primes ministers than most folk have had dinners.//
Is that a statement of the obvious or what.
Given that Presidents / Prime ministers have a fixed term in power or have to go to the electorate if they want to continue in office ( in a demoracy at least )
Does the Queen have any restriction placed on how long she can remain the Monarch ?
It's a State visit, she's Head of State, she entertains. I was thinking when they showed the State Banquet - she's had a busy couple of weeks for an older lady.
As others have said, protocol dictates that a Head of State must be greeted by (and regarded as the guest of) the Head of State of the host country.
For example, if President Obama was to visit Germany his official host would not be Chancellor Angela Merkel (who is effectively in charge of the country) but President Christian Wulff (who many people, outside of Germany, have never even heard of!)
I certainly wouldn't call myself a royalist, but I think "lazy bitch" is a very harsh comment for a lady of 85 that has a schedule that most of us probably couldn't keep up with.
"thought the Queen only posed for stamps and the lazy bitch did not do anything else."
Wish you could have seen my jaw drop when I read that comment groms, utterly surprised, appalled and shocked you'd come out with it, and it's totally inappropriate to call an elderly lady that.
