Hi makeup gurus ... I've never used a foundation brush before. Can anyone point me towards the best make and size of brush that would be a good first buy?

Thank you.

Benefit make up sell brushes as well, They are sort of silicon-y rather than hair-y if you see what I mean, so the foundation glides on and they are really easy to keep clean. Go to your nearest Benefit counter and ask for a foundation brush, or order it online.
Try a beauty counter at House of Fraser or somewhere similar, they will give you free advice on brushes, colours etc and make you up. Me? I just splat it on, not a good look! Think clown!

I like the one I got from The Body Shop. I think it was about £12 and it's reasonably large but I get a good covering with it and it blends the foundation into the awkward little bits well.
Make sure you get one with synthetic hair - real hair soaks up foundation so you end up with more in the brush than on your face. Use the very ends of the brush to apply it - almost like tickling the skin. If you want to build up coverage pat more foundation on with the side of the brush, then use the ends to blend. Wash it once a week in warm soapy water - face wash or showergel is fine. Then leave to air dry. Don't put it on a radiator or it'll loosen the glue. My favourite brush is the Clarins one - but i would say that cause i work for them ;) a cheaper good one is ruby & millie, or i think a brand called eco tools do a synthetic one.
EyesLipsFace (ELF) have some excellent quality, but very reasonably priced make-up brushes:
