I bought some Sherbet Lemons yesterday, I've had a fancy for them for ages.
I saw them in a 'Pound' shop & looked forward to enjoying them when I got in. But I was quite disappointed, they are lemon but not that lemon shape pimpley feel ones, they taste sherbety but I wanted those that were filled with sherbet powder that burst on your tongue. You older peeps know what I mean.
Anyone know where I can get the real maccoy.?

Waitrose have packs of Mr Bojangles Sherbert Lemons that are the real McCoy
No, but know what you mean. bought some rhubarb and custard sweets that were very bland and tasteless. Not how I remembered them
This news item, from your local paper, is only from last August so, unless they ceased trading very quickly, you should still be able to try here, Jemisa:

They're still online anyway:

This is also fairly close to you:

We've got a shop that sells loads of the old style sweet, sherbet lemons, pineapple chunks, black bullets, licorice torpedos all the old favorites, next time I'm in i'll ask who their supplier is.
None of them are as good as you remember.
I have an excellent Tobacconist around the corner from me - and they sell sweeties from jars. Yummy

This company is supposed to be good - http://www.aquarterof.co.uk/

Thanks Wolfy, I had a look but its hardly worth ordering a quarter of sweets, the postage costs more than the sweets.
I think there's some truth in what you say Hopkirk.
Chris, you always come up with the goods. Unfortuneately neither place is very near me. I'm at least 2 miles out of town, But next time I am in town I'll be definately stocking up.
One of my old neighbours Kathy 87 told me of a place a few streets awaytoday, soo I'm off there tomorrow, Kathy wants some bulls-eyes.

Thanks for your reply, Jemisa.

I'll be in Southend tomorrow (watching the air show - if I can drag myself out of Tiffin's Lounge Bar!) so I'll try to look out for anywhere else that sells traditional sweets.

Ooooooo!! Chris, I'll be at the Air-show too. f you see a frustrated old granny chasing after 2 kids That'll be me.

I think that description might well apply to quite a few people tomorrow, Jemisa!

If you're looking for a drink (and an oasis of calm along the seafront) I strongly recommend Tiffin's Lounge Bar. It's part of an Indian restaurant but you can use it like a pub (and I've seen people take their kids in). It's near the Kursaal:

Loved sherbert lemons but sherbert strawberries were my favourite. Haven't seen them for ages.
