I think my dog may have toothache. She is rubbing her mouth and seems 'out of sorts'. If i could buy something to tide us over until we can see the vet tomorrow, I'm sure it would help her. She is a 5K toy poodle.

No - you should never give anything like this to an animal without a proper diagnosis. She could have toothache but it could be something else, don't try to diagnose it yourself. Human medication can be fatal to dogs.

Oh poor thing. I'm not aware of anything you can give your dog although others on here might. But perhaps your vet has an emergency number where you could speak to a vet and get advice to tide you over until Monday. I know mine has. Have you tried ringing his number and see what happens? I was sent to another vet who runs a late night service and got what I needed. It would be awful for your dog to have to wait until Monday. Good luck.

I am a bit ignorant about toy poodles. Does the 5K mean that's what she's worth/cost, or is it a special type of T/poodle.

I'm not nosy, I just want to know.

You could give an aspirin, one wouldn't hurt. Check she hasn't got something caught either in between teeth or across the roof of her mouth.

wildwood - my two moggies weigh about 5kg and they are about the size of a small dog. They are much, much scarier and vicious though. ;-)

You will probably know what is wrong by now, but at this time of year, it could be a wasp sting? I used to have a weimaraner who never learned not to snap at wasps and got several lip and mouth stings as a result.

Open her mouth and have a good look in there, she could have something stuck in her teeth. We had a similar thing with our dog a while back and it turned out to be a bone that was wedged betwee her back teeth.which she couldn't shift.
