I jointly own a property in Spain with a relative who lives near the property.

She has sub-let the property and gives me no income.

I wish to sell the property. How can I go about this. The property was left to me by her father.

Thank for any suggestions.

I suspect that you will need a solicitor in Spain to deal with this as it's probably outside the juristriction of a UK lawyer.  However, if you enquire of a solicitor in the UK they may be able to provide you with the name of a Spanish lawyer who can help you.  I'm sure that that you will not be able to sell the property without her agreement and signature but if you're a co-owner, you should be entitled to a share of any rental income.  Whereabouts in Spain is the property?  Perhaps another visitor to this site who owns a Spanish property in the same vicinity can recommend a good lawyer ??

I do not know if this will help but I did own a property in Spain and I used Galvez and Galvez who all speak English and who are experts in dealing with Spanish property for English people.  Not sure if they are out of the area you are in, but if not they might be able to recommend someone else.

Thanks WendyS and Lady_p_gold.

Property is in Marbella. This lady is ripping me off but there is no written agreement as to how to proceed if one co-owner wants to sell. Could be difficult I know.

Will contact Galvez & Galvez in case they can help.

Thanks again.
