LCD TV gone kaput

Bought 4 years ago (warranty expired last year) is it worth sending for repair knowing the TV is just one circuit board and engineers tend to just replace boards rather than fixing them? Sound but no picture!

Firstly the perceived quality of the item is taken into account, so an expensive TV might reasonably be expected to last 6 years, a cheap one not so much, they also take into account the use you have had out of the item so there would only ever be a offer amounting to 1/3 or less of the price of the tv, it's not reasonable to expect a manufacturer to give anyone 4 years use of a TV.
