How can you tell if a computer will work with a wireless keyboard and mouse ?

dont they all work? no reason why not in my knowledge

I'm not sure RATTER, which is why I'm asking.
Most modern ones will. check the drivers cd or on the box should say compatible with windows xp, vista or win 7 etc. if you have the same operating system you should be ok
plug it in and try..and then you will know if it works or not...

Wireless keyboards and mice come with a USB receiver that plugs into any computer with a USB port.

Thanks Chuck, I didn't realise they came with a receiver. I guessed it would need something more.

I got a plug and play set from Aldi years ago, the only problem I've had is that the "A" has worn off of the key.
If you still need to get one, get a decent one. The cheaper ones have caused many people to go 'off' them but I've had mine going for nine years and no problems.

I use normal batteries in the keyboard/mouse, not re-chargeable ones.
