does anyone else wonder if the new strain of e-coli could be another form of terrorism? putting the frighteners on us and impacting on spains already fragile economy by putting a possible 70.000 people out of work in the vegetable industry
its already spreading world wide?
It's still all rooted in people who have been to Germany though - any cases in other countries, including UK and US, are in people who have just come back from Germany. I don't think it's germ warfare, but that's my opinion.
is this e coli on the outside of the veg or inside of it.i cant see how millions of veg can all be infected with this, i thought e-coli was passed on by touching the said objects with your hands how can one infected person touch millions of veg products
having typed that I've just found this-
"Vegetables can also be contaminated if the fertiliser used on them includes incorrectly composted cattle manure. The bacteria from the cattle's intestines can emerge in their dung.
To reduce the possibility of the manure containing the dangerous bacteria, it should be kept at temperatures of around 55 degrees Celsius for up to two weeks. The high temperatures are unfavourable for the growth of E coli and should reduce the number of pathogens or kill them off completely. "
