The article itself is opinion rather than news surely - "The Corporation decided that the word – most abhorrent to women – has lost much of its 'shock value' and is tolerable for radio and television." for example. Who decided this? (the women part i mean)
Adequate joke. Likely to offend the overly-sensitive.

It was a clear case of not having enough news to fill the paper with so wasted pages on this nonsense. They'll be trying to ban learning about King Cnut in primary school next. But they may find they can not turn back the tide.

I think it would be safer to call him Canute, in order to cater for dyslexic pupils.
