What is the cheapest way of clearing a home of 22 years of Family Life? All the unwanted large items of furniture have been dealt with but there is a houseful of unwanted papers and general stuff collected over the years.

Is it cheaper to hire a skip, or to hire a local firm to do the donkey work? Any thought would be gratefully received.

Definitely go for someone reputable if you do get some help, there were reports on Watchdog I think not long ago about unscupulous people just dumping stuff. I echo about the personal details as well. Last year, after a near neighbour passed away and his house was being cleared, people were in the skip in the drive rifling through stuff.

There would only be old and defunct bank details though. Surely that would be ok?
I think it should be a skip and one little old woman and her son doing it. Lol.
i would suggest just bag it all up and put it out for the bin men...you could spread it out a bit up the street so its not such a big pile...

skip people wont actually remove and bag the stuff for you...they only take the full skip...

maybe place an ad somewhere offering a fee?
