had a missed call on my mob, didnt know number so rang back. Didnt recognise voice when he answered so i said he must have rang wrong number. He said he hadnt rang anyone and he asked who i was, then i recognised voice of my neighbour and said 'is that nextdoor?' he then passed me on to his wife who said look outside. I did, and the road is full of police! What a great neighbour to keep me updated lol

I'd had the day off sick with a migraine, stayed in bed sleeping with the curtains tight shut. About 1pm my friend rang asking what was happening in our road as it was cordoned off - I opened the curtains and the SWAT squad were outside, all black gear and armed. Some poor woman opposite had shot and killed her 4-year-old and turned the gun on herself. It was very awful. I hope yours is nothing like that ;-(
Bloomin' heck, micmak! Did your employers think it was some elaborate skive excuse? Seems pretty harsh.
I was once woken from an afternoon sleep after a night shift by my then partner saying 'You won't want to miss this, Clare'. It was the police entering a neighbour's back door with a battering ram! He was a strange bloke, though - prone to driving his car at people in our usually quiet lane (the neighbour, not the former partner).
I came home one early evening to find him 'turfing' the lane, completely unconvinced that the next rainfall would wash it all away. He knocked on my door at a quarter to midnight one night to offer me a 'preview' of his latest video ('on sale at 10am tomorrow, so you'll have to watch it NOW') - which turned out to be edited Sky coverage of that year's TT races, with his own added 'sound effects', and with the Sky logo still clearly visible in the corner of the screen.
He also had the nerve once to tell me he thought I had a 'posh' voice, and would I like to do voiceovers for him? I mumbled an excuse, as I'd heard from elsewhere about the nature of some of his videos!
