Macmillan Cancer Support Rhyming Quiz

Can anyone explain these questions please? I have looked through lots of books and used Google but have no idea what they can be.

1. Himself he he (3,6,7)
2. Faberge egg (6) this answer has to rhyme with the answer for ...
Highly skilled master of Ninjutsu (8)
3. Board Game (7,7) I have looked at so many lists of games but can't find one with the right number of letters.

Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm afraid I don't understand the answers for number 2 though ... I will have another look using google and see if the penny drops. Thanks slaney.
I am finding this quiz quite hard - well, very hard - and don't think I will be sending it back - even with a long time until it closes I am not able to work out such clues. I thinkI need to attempt an easier quiz.

It's a word meaning everyone followed by an anagram of 'to riga' and the answer is a word that can come after 'see you later..'

Okaaayyyyy ... I must be making progress because I did think it was an anagram but as to which words I need to work on was puzzling me.

Slaney - thank you for those links. I wasn't getting anywhere searching myself ... I don't think I am a very good Googler! The answers make sense now.
How did you find those answers - I did google "faberge eggs" but the amount of information given was baffling and I did not know where to begin to narrow it down. As for the "master of Ninjutsu" - I got even more confused with that.

Hello - it's me again.

This quiz is far too hard for me but I am hoping to learn from it and wonder if it is alright to ask for a tip on how to even begin to work out this particular clue? I have no intention of sending it in and am not asking for an answer but I just don't know how you work out clues like this one.

This is a classic cryptic clue. The first half gives you the straight forward answer ie. see nothing out of the ordinary and then the second half requires an alternate word for taking the car out+in. Extreme weather suggests an anagram of the two words. Hope this help. If you aren't used to the structure of cryptic clues you can get books that help you to recognise them. There are many styles of question structure. With quizzes you are a bit at the mercy of the setters skill, whereas with crosswords the setters tend to follow the conventions. Good luck.

Thank you fleurbird for that. I have no idea about cryptic clues and do not understand how you knew what to look for ... you must be very clever! I will give it some thought but am very confused. It seems a lot of working out just for a seven letter answer. So does the "extreme weather" bit just mean you have to mix up your letters in an anagram and I don't need to think of names of storms or anything? I must sound so stupid!!!

No I'm not clever but learning to do cryptic clues is a technique and a really good challenge for the grey cells! Yes ignore the weather. You could solve the clue by just thinking about the first half, if something is ordinary, ie. everyday it's....... Then when you have a word look at the other half and see if it fits.
