As long as you have their respect and they know when is acceptable to have that kind of banter going on, that sort of relationship goes a long way. Although, if 'alf pissed came up I think I'd be giving them the 'look' 8o/

It's 20 years since I left teaching but I'm still in touch with many of my ex-pupils, so I can't have got it all wrong!
(Incidentally, I'm a strong believer that teachers should have to earn the respect of their pupils. A good starting point is to show the kids that you respect them!)
