Sorry if I'm boring you with this but I'm so chuffed. L'elisir D'amore today. It will have to be good to beat Don G last time. Off to pick up the picnic I've ordered now - much nicer when you don't do it yourself. JJ I won't forget you if I ever get a spare.

Thanks marval, I will. I hope it doesn't rain today though, could go either way I think.
That's odd, thought it didn't start until Thursday? You must have free tickets?

Anyway, "Nemorino" will have to go some to outshine Rolando Villazon's portrayal of the young hero in 2005 at Vienna when he had to reprise the legendary "Una Furtiva Lagrima" during a live performance - quite unprecedented!
Yeah, yeah ...no, actually, I'm fine, ladybirder.

I'm going to sit in The Mesmerist with a bottle of wine. I have a good book on the go.

I'd probably have been too busy, actually.

And, err ...

Oh, sod it ... I WANT A TICKET FOR GLYNDEBOURNE TOOOOOO !!!!!!!

Well it was wonderful, great fun. Kerosene, yes I get free tickets for the FDR, got them for Don Giovanni a couple of weeks ago as well and Cosi last year. Stephen Costello as Nemorino sang Una furtiva lagrima beautifully and got a standing ovation but for me the evening belonged to de Niese, she's a star, such presence, a wonderful Adina.

JJ I do hope you had a fantastic afternoon reading your most wonderful book in the Mesmerist (smirk):-)

Right gotta catch up on Spring Watch now before bed.
Hope you had a great time Ladybirder, and good for you x
ladybirder ...

I'm very jealous, but I'm really glad you had a good time.

It sounds fab.

Love, J x
You lucky thing, i have always wanted to go, have a lovely time, im envious....
I have looked at getting tickets at ROH for Tosca, starring the truly wonderful Jonas Kaufman, but i think i have almost no chance, but going to keep looking.
Question Author
Good luck at the ROH em10 but you're probably right, the "Friends of" will probably have grabbed them all. My friend's mother is a "Friend of" and already has tickets for the Netrebko performance of Traviata - sooo jealous.
Look out for a Bass called Jan Martinik from the Czech republic, on your opera travels, he was a finalist on Cardiff singer of the World, i think he is one of the most wonderful singers i have ever heard. He won the song title, he has been around for a while now, but still young.
