Depending how much I won I'd give 50% to charities, and share the rest with my family.
I would but craft a new Freeview Box ! :-)))
Not have any publicity for starters. My aunt and uncle won £1.6m and they were hounded by begging letters.
'Buy' Typo !
Thank you redman..............I'm touched.
keep plenty for myself give the rest away
Trouble is when I was young a million pounds was unimaginable riches. Now-a-days you can spend quite a few of them on that mansion you've had your eye on for the last few decades. Then you need a few more to maintain it, and some left over to furnish it. And then more for living on and holidays and suchlike.

But priorities for me would be to give up the rat race and retire. Get somewhere pleasant to live but that I could afford to keep going. Invest some for future security. Give some to close family members. Earmark some for charity. And hire accounts/lawyers to advise on how to keep the government's hands off of what is mine.

Probably more too but as mentioned, there is a limit to how far a lottery win will stretch.
Give some to charity
take my two kids to florida disney land.
Pay for my hubby to have a fabulous headstone on his grave.
And buy my own little cottage in the country.
Jump for joy!
.I wouldn`t want it to change my habits too radically, so would continue sending begging letters. Could also afford, perhaps, not to worry about my South West Water bills - gotta keep those French Directors in the luxury to which they have become accustomed.
emigrate to a warm tax haven
That sounds a good idea, Scotman.
Give some to charity. And buy a new house. Take my family on a nice vacation.
Why is it that ...

People who have NOT won the Lottery always say they would give money to charity.

People who HAVE won the Lottery, hardly ever give significant sums to charity.
how do you know they don't?

I would give all mine to the Fund for Indigent Brighton 4WD Owners.
jno ...

Because all the documentaries about Lottery winners show them living in mansions, going on cruises, driving Aston Martins, and drinking Champagne ... not contributing hugely to the fight against heart disease.
If I won the lottery I would give a huge chunk to each of my kids, and invest some more for my grand kids. I would buy myself a lovely bungalow somewhere nice, probably have it built to my spec, nice furnishings and a new car. Then I would give some to other family members and then hopefully have a bit left to live nicely. Not bothered about holidays, would rather be at home in my own surroundings. Its all a pipe dream, but hmmm maybe one day.
