hi all. iv been given a rc nitro car that needs a new engine amongst other things. from what iv read different scale models need different size engines, but how do i know the scale of the car? there is no make/model on it as it seems to have been built from a mishmash of parts so i cant look it up. also is there any way to repair an engine that spits out fuel/grease from underneith itself when its runnung? cheers..............

By the sound of it you've got a faulty engine for it? in which case there should be some markings on the engine that will give away which type it is.
The fuel spitting out the bottom will probably just be a badly sealed crank cover, on the ones I've worked on it's just a round plate on the bottom of the engine that was help on by 4 allen srews, I'd just remove that and...

As for the car, what have you got on it? if you have the clutch still on it then just measure in input shaft for the clutch and get an engine that matches... if it's not the correct engine you may have to modify the mounting point, but that shouldn't be a big job.

cheers chuck, im so new to this nitro thing lol. total novice. i plan to strip it down and clean it up cuz its coverd in crap from the leaking engine so i will remove the engine and check it over. what do you meen when you ask whats on it? oohhhh its fully built but the engine is the biggest worry, thanks chuck, im gonna hide from the mrs in the shed tomm and have a go lol
i did take it to a shop too cuz the pullstart had snapped and the guy in the shop said that the engine wouldnt be enough for the car? i assume if its speed you want then a bigger engine, im not looking for speed just raw power for rough terrain like long grass or muddy bmx tracks. im rambling, sorry.
