But I really came on here to ask if one of those 'universal' remote controls for the tv needs to be tuned in, or do they just work with any telly? Ours at work has broken and Lidl have one on offer next week, but don't know if it would be suitable.

I don't remember ever having to tune in a universal remote, so it would probably be suitable. Are there any basic instructions on the box to give you a clue?

By the way, lankeela, I remember a while back that you mentioned a friend who bred Norfolk Terriers and I wondered what region they lived in. My beloved Hamish was 90% Norfolk in looks and if I ever decided to get another dog, I would like one as similar to him as possible. We never found out what his other half was. He just looked like a large norfolk and had the same sweet temperament. My Dad keeps asking when I'm going to get another dog. He forgets that it was only a month ago. I'm still pining.......sniff!

Er - Norfolk! The lady who breeds them lives near Watton, I will ask her if she has any pups planned and let you know.
Sort of related, recently found out that the remote to my car, a Golf, opens my neighbour's electric gates.
Thanks so much for your reply, but I live in South Yorkshire. A woman down the road has two Norfolks, so I wonder if she got them a little more locally. I will have to go and ask her, but will wait a while. I don't want to crumble into tears on her doorstep!

http://www.champdogs....folk-terrier/breeders my friend is on here and there are several in Yorkshire.
lankeela, thank you so much for the link. My Dad and I have been oohing and aahing over the beautiful pictures!
can you look on the net and see if there is a rescue Norfolk group ? maybe you could find out and give a good home to a less fortunate dog of the breed of your choice.
I doubt it but should you ever want a rescue shar pei then just ask me.

The Kennel Club website has details of every breed and all breed rescue society. Most breed clubs have their own rescue or are part of a national network. Our breed (Lancashire Heelers) has two rescue societies although fortunately we only have very occasional need for them
