Is there a Formula for working out Ratio's also why is there no

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW TO WORK OUT RATIO'S
ALSO WHY IS THERE NO KEY FOR DIVISION .

I'm unsure what exactly you want, but there again it's been too long since I was last at school. What are you given, what do you want to work out ?

If one quantity is 5 and the other 10 then that's a ratio on 10 to 1.

you just divide one by the other.

So if you have 10 nuts and 5 bolts then 10/5=2 so you have 2 nuts for every one bolt, or a ratio or 2:1 (2 to 1)

and / is the divide key.

On excel you use the / key for division.
Here is an example of ratios.
Suppose you want to share £60 between Joe and MIck in the ratio 2:3
That means you split it 2+3= 5 parts. Joe gets 2 parts and Mick gets 3 parts.
Each part is worth £60 divided by 5 = £12
Joe gets 2 lots of £12 = £24
Mick gets 3 lots of £12 = £36

For a formula, suppose you want to split X in the ratio P to Q.
The total number of parts is P+Q.
One part = X/(P+Q)

One person gets P aparts = P x X/(P+Q)
The other gets Q x X/(P+Q)
