Tried to istall a microphone on Skype but all I get is a loud buzzing sound

A few questions before we can help you:

1. How is the Mic attached to the computer?
2. How have you installed it? From a disc or download? Or was it a plug-and-play device?
3. When do you get the buzzing sound?

my (first) comment about making sure it's pushed fully in is a proper answer, it's often the cause of this exact problem that people haven't pushed the jack plug fully in.

My second answer was joking about, which is why I have no complaints about it being removed.
