why is it that when ever i go to uninstall programs off of my laptop it takes for ever to complete, it never used to?

when it does finally complete when i reboot the system it changes the font to a bold arial type which is really hard to read. the only way ive found to get rid of this was to do system restore but then it restores the programs i dont want!

any ideas? thanks in advance rob

It sounds like a registry problem. You could try booting from a floppy and running scanreg/fix but I've got my doubts about whether this would work. (The next stage, after trying this, is usually to try scanreg/restore but, if you've had the problem for a while, there probably won't be an old enough cab file available).

The easiest way to resolve your problem is to re-install Windows. If you've not done this before, don't panic! I used to be terrified of the thought of this but I've since found that an 'on-top' installation of Windows is dead easy. You don't lose any documents or programs - the only thing you'll probably have to do afterwards is to re-install your anti-virus program. If you need instructions, just post another question.
