Sorry to hear you've had this problem, DEN53. Migraines are dreadful things! I get them regularly. Have this investigated properly though, as it could also be something else. People experience Migraines in so many different ways. I need to get away from bright light and from loud sounds, incl people talking, as these make my migraines worse. If I get a bad one, it can go on for up to 5 days and for most of that time I need to stay in a darkened room and try to sleep it off. While some migraine medication takes the edge off, I have never found any that can stop it. What my GP has given me to take regularly is amitriptyline as it can reduce the number of migraines I get and their severity. I have tried Imigran, as squad mentioned and it does help, but makes me feel sick. I also have migraleve, which again takes the edge off and Morrison's own migraine relief, which is basically ibuprofen lysine. Your GP should help you find what will work for you, once you are sure this is a migraine you are suffering. I use cold packs for my head, which do help as well. Good luck, hope you don't get this regularly. Best wishes.
