from grass to gravel
Hi, do I need planning permission to remove grass and install gravel in my front garden? I am not the freeholder, I lease the garden. Many thanks for your help.

No. Not to my knowledge. Just bad taste will do. If you lease though, you may not have the right to change it.
Gee whiz my neighbours all have gravel. All you can hear in the morning is crunch crunch crunch crunch crunch. It's not as if it is even nice to walk on. Or pretty to look at for that matter.

We have a long, long wide gravel drive. Nothing looks as good in a large garden in the country with an older house. Yes it does crunch, but as Woofy says, it alerts us to intruders, even the odd cat that comes visiting. The house next door has a long concrete drive and it looks totally out of place. Gravel gives a soft and gentle look that can't be achieved with paving, and jasa, if he can get permission, would do well to put it down, especially if he needs it for a drive or parking area.
