We had the same problem with a "large supermarket" although it was for supposedly wrongly parking in a badly marked space. We consistently refused to pay and that is eighteen months ago - it is a civil matter and if you hand money over you are only filling their coffers. They, I understand, have to prove "you" parked the car there - and they will threaten to take you to court blah blah. Just ignore them.

Out of interest johnshols how much was the so called "fine"? Ours was £40 "on the spot" but by the time we had argued for months it ended up as £90 - which of course we refused to pay.
Yes, I would appeal again this, as you do not have any choice. I think that you should use up 4 spaces ideally, and we will all support you on this one.
Why should anyone pay in a motorway car park anyway. As I understand it, fines are supposed to apply only to vehicles left for long periods when the owner has left the site.
the fine will be because if everyone parked over four spaces they wouldn't have enough parking provision for all their customers.

John if you have a van sized vehicle you should have parked in the lorry / van car park where the bays are bigger.

If you refuse to pay very little will happen
Wow. I just looked on Google images. That is a really nice car. Well done.
