Valve grinding

I have relaced a few broken ones and i guess the fragments from these have caused slight damage to some of the others ( small pits about 0.25mm / 0.010") they come out with a bit of grinding but are they still strong enough ? and am i right to assume that the opening gap will not change due to having hydraulic tappets ?.
