Hello, I'm trying to do a subtraction formula on excel (for example =j2-k2) exactly what it says on all websites, but it keeps coming up with value and error. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance

Your example looks fine to me.

Thats what I thought but it keeps coming up with error
Have you got any data in the relevant cells?
type the following in the cell where you need the answer to calculate =sum(J2-K2) ....... this should work fine.
Try changing it in steps to see where the error creeps in.

First check if =2+3 is ok.

If it is then delete the 2, click on the J2 cell so the spreadsheet adds it to the formula. See if that works.

Finally replace the k2 by deleting it and clicking on the K2 cell.

It may be something daft that you can't show ni your post, somehow.
Make sure the format of each of the three cells in question (j2, k2 and result) is set to Number or General...
you have not got a numerical value in one of the cels
Are you sure the cell isn't set to text?

Thanks, stupid me just realised that excel is in Spanish and over here they put 0,90 not 0.90. Just changed it and it works. Sorry to waste all your times.
No worries Filbert - glad it's sorted
I did wonder about the labels, which was why I suggested clicking onthe cells instead of typing them in. Still good to read it's sorted.
