Please can anyone tell me how to re-install my windows media player

I have some programmes loaded, but when I try to play them. I get a
message telling me there is a problem and that it can be resolved by reinstallation.

download correct version and install

Agree that VLC is a better player, but if the OP uses the music management in media player they may want to keep using it.

Media player is resource hungry...as it's been mentioned, vlc is far better and does not need additional codecs to play most video/audio file formats.
