I went to my local Halifax today to pay in 3 small cheques[ I went on Sat but it was 12.01 and they shut the door in my face], new rules are you have to now fill in a paying in slip with total amount paying in and all your bank details which they can do with one swipe of your debit card, anyway a young lady employee was topping up the slips and I was having difficulty adding up so I said to her I dont see why we have to do this and she replied in a very nasty tone "why should we have to do it for you" well excuse me but I thought that money generated from clients paid their wages ?

All my business with the bank is done automatically so I hardly ever see the tellers. My pensions get paid into my current account and my bills are paid by direct debit. However, if ever I have to go into the bank I get nothing but politeness and courtesy. It's Lloyds/TSB by the way. My electricity company wanted me to read my own meter and send it in so that they did not have to employ a meter reader. I declined as I thought that was a bit much - me reading the meter and some poor sod losing his job? No way.
