Can anyone please help me?

i have just discovered that for some reason all my folders have been emptied of their files in my portable hard drive.

I have not disconnected it or in any other way done anything (in my knowledge) to cause this to happen.

Would it be of any use doing a system restore?

"I have not disconnected"

Then disconnect it (including power) reset the computer and then reconnect it.

And, No a system restore restores settings and system files, not personal files

Thanks for your answer Chuck.

Before I read your answer I switched off my computer, unplugged the potable drive's USB lead from the computer and unplugged the end that goes into the drive.

Then I plugged everything back to norm and restarted my computer and hey presto I got all my files back.

So when I came back to check if I had any answers to my problem, there was your answer which advised me to do exactly the same.

Thanks once again Chuck you are a genius.

Have you any idea what causes this to happen?
No idea what causes it to be honest, I'd guess it's just the drivers for the drive having a bit of a hissy fit, I've seen it happen quite a few times though and simply reconnecting and a restart always sorts it out (as it does for a lot of computer problems)
